Volunteer Programme Assistant (Enquiries and Recruitment)

We’re passionate about volunteering at the Museum of the Home. Volunteers support the museum in a variety of ways, from welcoming visitors to helping in our collection stores.   

 

We’re looking for someone friendly and welcoming to help us answer queries about our roles and project, and help as many people as possible find out about our volunteering opportunities. In this role you’ll support people’s introduction into the museum, supporting our recruitment process and general enquiries, and assisting with our promotion of roles.  This is a meaningful role, supporting many people in starting volunteering to improve their wellbeing. 

 

We’re looking for someone to commit around 2 hours a week, initially from home, with flexibility around office/homeworking. Initially, we are looking for a commitment of 3 months, although we hope that you’ll stay with us longer. 

For when you need to come into the museum, we reimburse travel expenses up to the value of £12.70 per return journey. 

What's involved?

In this role you will be: 

 

  • Uploading opportunities to our volunteer website and external advertising pages 

  • Checking and responding to e-mails related to volunteer enquiries  

  • Processing volunteer enquiries, arranging interviews and following up references. 

  • Scheduling and preparing materials for volunteer inductions  

  • Helping at open days and fairs for potential volunteer   

  • Updating volunteer records  

 

No special experience, knowledge or qualifications are necessary but to get the most from this role you should: 

 

  • Be friendly and welcoming 

  • Ability to understand and empathise with people from a variety of    backgrounds  

  • Be enthuastic about volunteering and volunteer culture 

  • Computer literate with good attention to detail 

  • Happy to work individually and as part of a team
